John Wick

Synopsis:

After the sudden death of his beloved wife, John Wick receives one last gift from her; a beagle puppy named Daisy, and a note imploring him not to forget how to love. But John's mourning is interrupted when his 1969 Boss Mustang catches the eye of sadistic thug Josef Tarasov who breaks into his house and steals the note, beating John unconscious and leaving Daisy dead. Unwittingly, they have just reawakened one of the most brutal assassins the underworld has ever seen.

Movie Review:

In our opinion, “John Wick” is one of the most underrated action movies of the last 5 years. The action scenes in this movie are incredible in part due to former stunt coordinator turned director, Chad Stahelski. He combines action with dialogue perfectly. Keanu Reeves gives his best performance since the “Matrix”. Reeves plays an ex-hitman who retires after his wife dies. He comes back for revenge when gangsters steal his 1969 mustang and kill his cute beagle puppy named Daisy. Keanu Reeves is an actor who doesn’t have a lot of range but if you put him in the right role he shines. And shine he does--performing 95% of his own stunts and appearing in one of the best shoot out scenes since “Collateral”. The supporting cast of Alfie Allen and William DaFoe is an added bonus. All of them contribute to the success of this film. However, I believe the plot could have been stronger. At times throughout the movie, the villains are portrayed as weak characters and the sequence of events is slow moving. All in all we really enjoyed this movie. We are giving “John Wick” 4 out of 5 stars.
