Guardians of the Galaxy

Synopsis:

A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe.

In my opinion “Guardians of the Galaxy” is one of Marvel’s best and funniest films. It combines science fiction and comic book elements to make it feel like a space opera. James Gunn did a great job introducing us to characters that we are not familiar within the marvel cinematic universe.” Guardians of the Galaxy” starts off with a young boy named Peter Quill who gets taken away from his home by space pirates called the revengers led by Yodu Udonta. Twenty six years later on the planet Morag, Peter steals an orb and gets pursued by Korath and his Kree minions. He escapes with the orb and tries to sell it. Xandar Gamora ambushes Peter to steal the orb. A fight ensures between Peter and, a bounty hunter named Rocket Raccoon and his humanoid companion Groot; all are captured by the Nova Corps. While in captivity, they meet Drax and escape. They finally sell the orb, but soon realize it is an infinity stone which will destroy the entire planet. The revengers and Quill’s band join forces with the Nova Corps to defeat Ronan once and for all. By far, the characters Drax and Rocket Raccoon are the standouts in this movie. Their quick wit and interactions with one another are scene stealers. Their unforced dialogue keeps the moving going at a fast pace. The chemistry among all the guardians is portrayed with humor as well as seriousness. The action in the movie is breathtaking, especially the major spaceship battle scene in the middle of the film, making it comparable only to “Star Wars”. The only problem that I have with the film is the main villain Ronan--just another boring marvel villain. There was nothing special about his character that impressed me. Once again Marvel has wowed me with another fun and entertaining movie in the MCU. I am giving “Guardians of the Galaxy” 4 out of 5 stars.
