Movie review:

“Logan” is the long awaited Wolverine I have been waiting for. It was entertaining, emotional and heartfelt. Let’s get this out of the way; I didn’t love the first “Wolverine” film--it was really disappointing to watch. “Logan” doesn’t feel like a super hero film, but a science fiction western with depth, energy and expressive weight. The main character Logan is caring for a sick Professor X in a hide out at the Mexican border. He comes out of hiding when Laura, a young mutant known as X-23 arrives and he has to protect her from dark forces. Dafne Keen who plays Laura X-23 was outstanding. She was dynamic in performing all of her action scenes; they seemed realistic and effortless. Keen and Jackman shared an on screen chemistry similar to a father and daughter relationship. It was very caring and passionate. Boyd Huldbrook plays Pierce the Mercenary. He is after Laura and is a true villain. His portrayal is charismatic and intimidating when he is on screen interacting with other characters. I wish there had been more screen time between Pierce and Dr. Rice because, finally a superhero movie with well written villains. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart have been playing Wolverine and Professor X for 17 years. This is their final appearance together and they have never been better. Their involvement in the action scenes is well choreographed and planned out. Logan’s fight scenes are gory and bloody, exactly what you want to see from a Wolverine film. “Logan” is overloaded with violence and brutality taking the super hero genre to whole new level. In my opinion, “Logan” is one of the best X-Men films—it is the Dark Knight of the X-Men universe. I am giving “Logan” a 4 out of 5 stars.
