Movie Review:

In case you didn’t know, “22 Jump Street” is the sequel to “21 Jump Street” and in my opinion it might be better and funnier than the first one. It is hard to pull off a comedy sequel that is actually funnier than the first film but the directors Phil Lord and Christopher Millar did it. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are back as the same characters from the first one and the combination of the two, once again, is more hilarious this time around. The on screen chemistry of comedic dialogue between them proves that their repeated working relationship has enabled Channing Tatum to feel more comfortable in this role than he did in the first one, and Jonah Hill knows how to deliver comedy just naturally. Ice Cube also returned as Captain Dickson, the heads of the Jump Street division. He is amusing and wittier in each scene that he appears. Once again Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall wrote the script and the story for this movie which is filled with smartly and humorous jokes told to entertain an audience using the same list of characters but in such a way that makes the sequel different but interesting, as well as funny. However the success for the movie goes to the directing team of Phil Lord and Christopher Millar who get comedy and how to portray it on screen--Everything they direct turns into comedy gold. The newcomers add to this cast and interact well with the main characters. They include: Peter Stormare who plays the movies drug dealer; Amber Stevens West who plays Captain Dickson’s daughter; and Jillian Bell who plays Mercedes, the main drug dealer’s daughter and villain of this movie. With a smart and funny script, “22 Jump Street” is even more comical and superior than the first one, which is rare for a sequel film. I am giving “22 Jump Street” a 4 out of 5 stars.
