Die Hard

Synopsis:

New York City policeman, John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve. He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages but him.

Movie Review:

In my opinion, “Die Hard” is one of the best, as well as, one of my all-time favorite action movies ever made. To this day, filmmakers are inspired by its popularity with viewers and still try to copy new and different versions of it. The reason why this is such an action classic is because of the great characters and a simple self-confined story--it takes place in one single building in one day. It is, also, one of the most memorable and quotable movies of all time. Nothing makes a great action movie than a great villain and “Die Hard” has that with Hans Gruber played famously by the late Alan Rickman. Rickman knocked this performance out of the park with great lines that transpire fear and emotion to a ‘glued to the screen’ audience, as we watch him possibly kill any of the 30 hostages that he captured. And I can’t say enough about Bruce Willis as the hero, John McClane. His performance as the tough as nails cop with a wry sense of humor is played out with raw emotions of courage, sensitivity, determination, and at times comedy. Willis is a perfect choice as the hero of this great franchise starter. This movie is flawless from beginning to end with great humor in all the right places; great characters that you care about; and with great action scenes that make your jaw drop in anticipation. There is nothing more to say except that “Die Hard” is not just a great action movie, it is a classic…one that audiences remember and reflect upon for decades to come. I am giving “Die Hard” a 5 out of 5 stars.
