Skyfall

Synopsis:

When James Bond's (Daniel Craig) latest assignment goes terribly wrong, it leads to a calamitous turn of events: Undercover agents around the world are exposed, and MI6 is attacked, forcing M (Judi Dench) to relocate the agency. With MI6 now compromised inside and out, M turns to the one man she can trust, Bond. Aided only by a field agent (Naomie Harris), Bond takes to the shadows and follows a trail to Silva (Javier Bardem), a man from M's past who wants to settle an old score.

Movie Review:

“Skyfall” is the 23rd Bond film in the longest film franchise of all time, spanning five decades, and the third one with Daniel Craig playing the famous character of James Bond. After the misfire and disappointment of the last film, “Quantum of Solace”, the producers of this Bond film promised something good and better than the last, and all I can say, they followed through on their promise. The movie features a great and haunting performance from Daniel Craig, who portrays Bond as an older and wiser and extraordinary spy, whom we all have loved over the years, but making him more human-like and easily identifiable to any average man. This movie allows the audience to get to know ‘the real’ James Bond, along with his past and insight on how he became a cold-blooded-assassin. Craig’s performance makes it understandable why he is one of the most popular of all James Bond actors. The amazing Judie Dench is back as M and she is even more forceful and passionate than before, since her character is coming back to settle the score after her past comes back to haunt her. She brings raw emotions to the role which we haven’t seen in M in a long time. The villain this time around is Silvia, the son of M, played by Javier Bardem. Silvia sets out for revenge on M and he is just frightening and scary as this villain. But at the same time, the audience understands and sympathizes with him—only the talented acting of Bardem can pull this off; making a terrifying and fear-provoking villain likeable. The action in this movie is well filmed and full of excitement and suspense due to a great director, Sam Mendes. You can tell that Mendes was a big Bond fan growing up by the way he knows the Bond characters and with his interpretation of a mature James Bond in this film. The newcomers to the cast are Naomie Harris as Field agent Eve—she is a strong female character and goes head to head with James Bond; and Ben Whishaw as the classic gadget master, “Q”—he is funny with a big personality. In the end, “Skyfall” has an intriguing story and plotline, intense character moments and thrilling action scenes. In my opinion, “Skyfall” is the best James Bond movie ever made over the 50 year run of the franchise. I am giving “Skyfall” a 4 out

of 5 stars.
