Die Hard 2: Die Harder

Synopsis:

A year after his heroics in L.A, detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) is mixed up in another terrorist plot, this time at Washington Dulles International Airport, where he is waiting for his wife (Bonnie Bedelia). That same night, South American politico and drug profiteer, Ramon Esperanza (Franco Nero) is arriving in U.S. custody. McClane takes action when a treasonous ex-colonel (William Sadler) seizes control of the airport, threatening to crash every inbound flight unless Esperanza is freed.

Movie Review:

“Die Hard 2” is the sequel to the smash hit “Die Hard” with the same story elements from the first film. That is the biggest problem about this movie; it’s kind of like watching the same movie all over again except that it takes place in an airport. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed this movie—it is quite humorous in all the right places, and the action scenes are intense and exciting. Once again, Bruce Willis dominates the screen as John McClane. He plays that witty cop who always gets himself into trouble and always around the holidays. Willis doesn’t disappoint as he delivers sharp, funny lines with ease but at the same time can play serious and deep. It is what we love about Willis’ portrayal of this character and why he makes the “Die Hard” films so popular with the audience. Colonel Stuart is the villain this time around, played by William Sadler, who is the brains behind taking control of the airport. Unfortunately, his character lacks the charm and wit of the classic villain, Hans Gruber, and his plan is pretty stupid and it makes no sense if you really think about it. The direction by Renny Harlin is mediocre, but it never really feels original because it seems like a copy of the first film. The plot of the movie is well written--there is a cool twist which is revealed in the final scene of the movie. In the end “Die Hard 2” lives up to a typical sequel; it is amusing, dramatic, action packed, and entertaining, and very similar to the first one. If you loved “Die Hard”, you will probably love “Die Hard 2”. I am giving “Die Hard 2” a 3 out of 5 stars.
