Movie review:

“The Fate of the Furious” is the 8th installment of the billion dollar franchise that’s not stopping anytime soon. This one is cartoon-like and sillier than the last 3 Furious movies, but I stilled enjoyed it. The main cast and crew are back from the previous films except the late Paul Walker. Again, this group of actors has great chemistry with each other on screen with their funny and cheesy one-liners and their off-the-cuff quick responses. The best part about this movie is the scenes between the “Rock” and Jason Statham. Their interactions with each other as the dynamic duo are simply hilarious. The new addition to the cast is Scott Eastwood as Little Nobody. Eastwood assimilated well to this role-- his part didn’t feel forced and it didn’t feel like he was replacing Paul Walker’s character. The action is, also, extremely exciting and adrenaline –pumping, with over the top sequences that make you not believe in the laws of physics at all. But that said, there is one particular action scene in the beginning involving cars falling from the sky. It’s little over the top and unrealistic. Also, the villain, played by Charlize Theron, named Cipher is a wasted character. She just sits behind a computer and a desk, talking to her men. Theron gives a dull portrayal with no personality; really boring. The second act of this movie is kind of slow and nothing really happens. However, the third and final act is action packed and fast moving. It involves submarine chasing cars. It’s pretty dumb, but exciting at the same time, further evidence that the writers of this movie are running out of ideas for this franchise. In the end the “Fate of the Furious” is not as good as 5, 6 and 7, but it is still an entertaining popcorn movie. And if you are a fan of the other Furious films, you will want to see this one too. I am giving the “Fate of the Furious” a 3 out of 5 stars.
