Die Hard with a Vengeance

Synopsis:

Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) is now divorced, alcoholic and jobless after getting fired for his reckless behavior and bad attitude. He is called back into action, however, when a cryptic terrorist (Jeremy Irons) takes New York City hostage in a lethal game of "Simon Says" and refuses to speak with anyone but McClane. Teaming up with a street-savvy electrician named Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson), McClane dashes through the city, trying to stay one step ahead of a murderous plot.

Movie review:

"Die Hard with a Vengeance" is the 3rd film of the "Die Hard" franchise. John McTiernan directed the first "Die Hard" movie and returned for this one. What a difference—the second movie was stale and lacked energy—the third one is funny, entertaining and full of action. This movie perfectly blends an exciting action movie and a buddy cop movie at the same time. The newcomer of this franchise is Samuel L. Jackson who plays Zeus, a street savvy electrician who gets caught up with the ultimate villain, named Simon, played by the brilliant Jeremy Irons. Irons is frightening and witty as this psychopath who wants John McClane dead. Once again, Bruce Willis is great for a third time as the tough as nails cop who will stop at nothing for justice. Willis pushes all the right buttons in his performance; he is comedic, courageous and emotional as McClane, and has on-screen chemistry with Jackson and Irons. John McTiernan directs this movie with powerful action sequences that give me goosebumps every time I watch them, especially, the train crash and an intense elevator shootout. Like all films there are a few problems and "Die Hard with a Vengeance" is no exception. There are a few pacing issues, the plot doesn’t unfold until the second half of the movie, and the ending is a little rushed and not as satisfying as the first film. In the end "Die Hard with a Vengeance" is an action-packed, cop movie with a great intimidating villain; it will not disappoint the audience. I am giving "Die Hard with a Vengeance" a 4 out of 5 stars.
