Movie Review:

"Alien Covenant" is the sequel to the disappointing Alien prequel movie called "Prometheus" and it takes place 10 years after this one. All that I can say is that I think this movie is so much better than "Prometheus" and so much more entertaining and scary. Ridley Scott captured perfectly huge landscapes, a great level of suspense and horror to make this the best looking film so far this year. This movie used the best elements of the first Alien film in terms of horror and suspense combined with the second film's exciting action sequences to make this prequel worth watching. The mix of practical effects and the CGI is creative and well-planned with interest and anticipation. Also, the looks of the Aliens are artistically imaginative but realistic; the characters are terrifying and frightening, at times causing the audience to scream in horror. The best acting performance in the movie goes to Michael Fassbender who plays dual characters, the androids, Walter and David. The two characters completely steal the show as they act in the same scene which is just mesmerizing. Katherine Waterston is the main character of the film. Daniels is a strong female character and she makes you care about what is going to happen to her. The character, Tennessee, played by Danny Mcbride is funny and entraining, as well, and he brings a sort of humor to the film that is really dark. The rest of the cast were just expendable characters who take up space and eventually get killed. If you are a big Alien fan, then you are going to love this film. But if you don't like a lot of blood and gore, this movie is not for you because there is plenty of it. I loved almost this entire movie, but the biggest disappointing aspect is the beginning of the film when it tries to mimic the first Alien movie in a weak way; however, there is a cool-twisted-jaw-dropping ending that makes you want to see the next film. In the end, "Alien Covenant" is an entertaining horror action film and a welcome return to the alien franchise and Ridley Scott. I am giving "Alien Covenant" a 3 out of 5 stars.
