Batman V. Superman Dawn of Justice

Synopsis:

It's been nearly two years since Superman's (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel.

Movie Review:

"Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice" is the second movie in the DC Cinematic Universe and is once again directed by Zack Snyder. Although it is not the big fun ride of "Man of Steel", there is a lot to enjoy about this movie. Ben Affleck proved all the haters wrong as he assumed the role of Batman. He is perfect as the damaged, middle aged, tired Bruce Wayne who still wants to do what is right. He gives a great performance giving his character's perspective of why Batman hates Superman. Henry Cavill returned to play Clark Kent/ Superman and is better than he was in the last movie and you kind of understand why he thinks Batman is dangerous and has to be stopped. The only problem with Henry Cavill’s performance as Clark Kent is that he just mopes around and whines the entire movie and he doesn’t get much screen time because the majority of the movie is spent with Bruce Wayne and his problems. Gal Gadot is magnificent playing the most popular female superhero, Wonder Woman. She doesn't have a lot of screen time but when she does appear; she steals the show with exciting action scenes that grab your attention, like when she saves Batman's life at the end of the movie. Most of the supporting cast is back from the previous movie "Man of Steel" like Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and they are good in the scenes that they are in. One of the best supporting cast members is Jeremy Irons as the long time butler, Alfred — the emotional scenes between Alfred and Bruce Wayne are the best scenes in this movie. The worst performance was Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Eisenberg acted like he was on some type of recreational drug and was trying to do a cheap impersonation of Jim Carey; very disappointing. There are some bloody and brutal scenes in this movie like when Batman rescues Martha Kent from the Russians, so be prepared. The biggest problem I had with this film is the badly written script by David s. Goyer and Chris Terrio. It felt like two different movies, a political thriller and a science fiction movie, that shifts in tone and doesn't mix together. And the editing was all over the place with lengthy fight scenes or scenes that were cut off and rushed (The Batman and Superman fight was like 10 minutes long). "Batman V. Superman Dawn of Justice" was somewhat disappointing because expectations were so high, but it did have amazing action scenes, outstanding performances by Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot as Batman and Wonder Woman, and Zack Snyder knows how to create a movie with style and beauty. If you are a Batman and Superman fan, then it is worth your time seeing this movie, I wouldn't have missed it. I am giving "Batman V. Superman Dawn of Justice" a 3 out of 5 stars.
