the Lego Movie

Synopsis:

Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules, is mistakenly identified as the Special -- an extraordinary being and the key to saving the world. He finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers who are on a mission to stop an evil tyrant's (Will Ferrell) plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly -- and hilariously -- unprepared for such a task, but he'll give it his all nonetheless.

Movie Review:

"The Lego Movie" is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Millar, who directed "21 and 22 Jump Street," and might be one of my favorite animated movies I have seen in the past five years. It is funny and charming and both adults and kids can enjoy it. This movie has a talented voice cast. Chris Pratt voices the main character Emmet who gets mistaken for the 'special' and is taken on an adventure. Chris Pratt brings his funny personality to this character that we all grow to love. Elizabeth Banks voices the character Wildstyle, the other main character in the movie, and is great as usual. The villain named President Business is voiced by the always funny Will Ferell and is hilarious as this character as he tries to take over the world. The supporting cast that includes Charlie Day, Allison Brie, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freemon all bring a sense of humor that works in this film. One of the best characters in the movie is Will Arnet who voices Batman and is probably the funniest character in this movie. They parody Batman very well and his sense of humor was perfect for kids and adults. The animation for this movie is imaginative with lots of color, dimensions and artistic scenery; it makes you feel like a kid when you are watching the film. Phil Lord and Christopher Millar took some inspiration and story elements form the "Matrix" and made it unique and surprisingly an emotional and comedic film. The only problem I had was the pacing of the second half of the film was a little slow. The Lego Movie" was one of the most animated films that I have seen that blends humor with magic and fascination to entertain all audiences no matter what age. I am giving "The Lego Movie a 4 out of 5 stars.
