the Nice Guys

Synopsis:

Holland March (Ryan Gosling) is a down-on-his-luck private eye in 1977 Los Angeles. Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) is a hired enforcer who hurts people for a living. Fate turns them into unlikely partners after a young woman named Amelia (Margaret Qualley) mysteriously disappears. Healy and March soon learn the hard way that some dangerous people are also looking for Amelia. Their investigation takes them to dark places as anyone else who gets involved in the case seems to wind up dead.

Movie Review:

"The Nice Guys" is a Neo Noir action comedy directed by Shane Black and might be one of the best movies I saw last year and is very underrated. What makes this movie special is the comedic writing written by Shane Black; it is smart, sharp and very funny. The two main leads of the film, Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling's chemistry is fantastic and their timing and line delivery is really funny. Ryan Gosling plays Holland March, a private detective, who is down on his luck and Russell Crowe plays Jackson Healy, a hired enforcer. They are both complete opposites of one another and are forced to work together. Angourie Rice plays Holland's daughter in the film and steals the show as this character Amelia with her witty performance. Matt Boomer is really good as the assassin John Boy who knows how to play lethal and scary — you don't want to mess with him—I wish he would have been in the movie more. Kim Bassinger makes a brief appearance in the movie and always gives it her best. There are many great cameos from the supporting cast that includes Keith David who plays one of the assassins after Amelia. David is great in his fight scenes with Russell Crowe. Those scenes, as well as the other action scenes and shoot-outs, are very well directed and are entertaining and exciting to watch. "The Nice Guys" is a movie with a smart script, great actors, and funny moments that never miss the mark. It was definitely an action comedy movie worth seeing. I am giving "The Nice Guys" a 5 out of 5 stars.
