Transformers Dark Of the Moon

Synopsis:

Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his new girlfriend, Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), join the fray when the evil Decepticons renew their longstanding war against the Autobots. Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) believes that resurrecting ancient Transformer Sentinel Prime (Leonard Nimoy), once the leader of the Autobots, may lead to victory. That decision, however, has devastating consequences; the war appears to tip in favor of the Decepticons, leading to a climactic battle in Chicago

Movie Review:

"Transformers Dark of the Moon" is the third film in the Transformers franchise and it is a much better sequel than the last one. Michael Bay definitely listened to the fans' complaints about the last Transformers film and took the suggestions; this one has no dirty humor and has an improved cohesive story. The film finds the Autobots learning about a secret spacecraft hidden on the moon and they must find it before the Decepticons transfer their home planet called Cybertron and takes control of Earth. Now, Sam has a new girlfriend, Carly played by the beautiful model, Rosie Huntington Whiteley who is mediocre as the damsel in distress and is just there to look pretty. Her acting skills are limited to say the least—it's obvious, she is not trained as an actor. The first two acts of the movie are dull and lots of set up is involved to advance the plot. Carly's Boss is played by Patrick Dempsey and he is the biggest problem with this movie. His character is part of a love triangle and Patrick Dempsey gives a really bad performance as Carly's boss. This love triangle-plot-twist drags on and is a waste of time, the entire story fails miserably. This movie does have a better villain this time around as Sentinel Prime, voiced by the late and always great Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy is by far the best thing in this movie, especially when he repeats some of his Star Trek lines; fans love it. Also, the Autobots have more of an on-screen presence in this movie which make characters like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime more interesting. There is a great deal of action that takes place, but the third act where the war starts between the Autobots and the Decepticons in Chicago is not to be missed. It is riveting, exciting and epic to watch the visual effects explode on screen. Shia LaBeof is more mature in this film and you can see his character is more dimensional than last movie. "Transformers Dark of the Moon" is a far better sequel than the previous Transformer movie thanks to Michael Bay who made an entertaining action movie with a descent story, but the movie still suffers from some dull and boring scenes and annoying characters. I am giving "Transformers Dark of the Moon" a 2 out of 5 stars.
