The Lego Batman Movie

Synopsis:

There are big changes brewing in Gotham, but if Batman (Will Arnett) wants to save the city from the Joker's (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Maybe his superhero sidekick Robin (Michael Cera) and loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) can show him a thing or two.

Movie Review:

"The Lego Batman Movie" is a spin-off from the movie titled, "The Lego Movie" and is based on the best Lego character, Batman. It is made into a funny parody of everything in the DC Cinematic Universe and they did it with a lot of heart which made it entertaining and fun to watch. Will Arnett returned to voice Batman. Arnett is great just as he was in the first movie, but he made Batman his own unique character that felt new and refreshing. Zach Galifianakis voices the Joker who is Batman's arch nemesis and is also really funny as the popular villain. Michael Cea voices Dick Grayson/Robin, Batman's long-time partner who fights crime and he steals the show; Cea is the heart and soul of this film. Rosario Dawson voices Barbra Gordon and Ralph Fieness voices Alfred; both are witty at times and talented supporting characters. The animation and direction from Chris McKay are colorful and imaginative, and you can tell that this guy is a big Batman fan by the way he knows the character so well. He also knew how to integrate other movie references and cameos from "Jaws", "the Matrix", "Harry Potter", "Jurassic Park", and "Lord of the Rings" into the film which added a humorous tone and made it even better. McKay made this film in such a way even adults can enjoy it. There are some action scenes in this movie that are very exciting and well-choreographed. The only problems I had with the movie are some of the jokes overlap with other jokes and that is hard to keep up with, and some parts of the movie are slow moving. "The Lego Batman Movie" has a valuable lesson for kids— not to be selfish, make friends and be kind to others— that's why I always love an animated movie. This movie is heartwarming, very funny and action packed; a film that kids and adults can enjoy. I am giving "The Lego Batman Movie" a 4 out of 5 stars.
