Synopsis:

Astronauts (Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds) aboard the International Space Station are on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As members of the crew conduct their research, the rapidly evolving life-form proves far more intelligent and terrifying than anyone could have imagined.

Movie Review:

"Life" is a science fiction thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds. It is about six astronauts, who research an extraterrestrial life form from Mars, but everything goes wrong. People end up dying from the Life form because it is more intelligent and terrifying then anyone could have imagined. This movie is riveting for the first two acts filled with suspense and raw emotions. It can be described best as the combination of the movies "Alien" meets "Gravity". The three main leads of the film are Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds. All three deliver outstanding performances in emotional scenes with each other (Even though Ryan Reynolds isn't really in it for that long, so don't get your hopes up if you go to see this movie expecting it's a 'Ryan Reynolds Show', it's not. The supporting cast of Hiroyuki Sanada, Aryiyon Barake and Olga Dihovichnaya are also really talented. This group of actors was unknown to me, but their performances definitely left an impression. The visual effect and the CGI are terrific in this movie, especially the look of the Life form which was scary and chillingly disturbing—it would frighten anyone who was trapped on the international space station with it. The biggest problem with the movie is that it lacks originality; it is so predictable that you can figure out what is going to happen next and it feels like you have seen it before in other science fiction horror movies…very disappointing. "Life" is a very enjoyable science fiction thriller with great acting, an intense atmosphere and a terrifying alien but with a predicable story and a bad ending that destroyed the movie for me. I am giving "Life" a 3 out of 5 stars.
