Get Out

Synopsis:

Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

Movie Review:

Get Out" is a horror thriller directed by Jordan Peele and it is his first movie that he directed. I really liked this movie and consider it one of the best movies I've seen this year. It is creepy, scary, and at times, it is has some comedy. "Get Out" is about an interracial couple named Chris played by Daniel Kaluuya and Rose played by Allison Williams who are dating. Rose feels that it's time to introduce Chris to her family so Chris agrees for a weekend getaway. While there, strange events unfold and he discovers something disturbing about his girlfriend and her bizarre family. As a first time director, Jordan Peele doesn't appear to be an amateur—he directs the perfect balance by creating an atmosphere of tension, creepiness, and excitement that leave you with goosebumps as you encounter all the unexpected twists and turns. Jordan Peele also captured a sense of humor to it as well. Chris's friend played by Lil Rel Howery is hilarious, and every time he was on screen, I was laughing. Daniel Kaluuya is outstanding and had a great performance for his first feature film. He portrayed his character as a real person with humor and a certain nervousness that all could identify with; the script was well written. Chris's girlfriend played by Allison Williams showed that she has some talent in this movie. She does a brilliant job at hiding her crazy personality until the right moment. Rose's parents played by Bradley Whiteford and Catherine Keener are odd and you have a sense that something isn't right about them right away, and these two actors pull it off with their acting ability. This film blended humor with horror in spectacular fashion and felt like a satire in its own right making "Get Out" one of the most original films in years. I loved every single scene in this movie. If you love original films filled with horror and dark comedy, you will love this move. I am giving "Get Out" a 5 out of 5 stars.
