Movie Review:

War for the Planet of the Apes" is the third and the conclusion to the prequel trilogy that started back in 2011 and is directed once again by Matt Reeves. This might go down as one of the best American movie trilogies of all time because of its outstanding and satisfying conclusion to Caesar's character arc and his character. From the opening scene to the ending, I was locked into the war between the humans and the apes. In this one, Caesar, played by Any Serkis for the third time, is forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans, led by a ruthless colonel played by Woody Harrelson. The apes are put to the test of survival and when they suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar has to wrestle with his darker instincts and begins his own quest of revenge and justice to his cause. Andy Serkis is fantastic once again as Caesar—he is courageous, intelligent and emotional, and Woody Harrelson is phenomenal as the Colonel—he is intimidating, scary and a great adversary to Caesar. This film makes you get both sides of the humans and the apes reasoning behind the war. Once again the CGI and the visual effects are amazing as they push the boundaries with flawless scenes and realistic looking apes. The action scenes of this movie are exciting starting from the first opening battle scene to the final confrontation and battle of Caesar and the Colonel. The scenes are intense and nail biting. The supporting cast includes Amiah Millar who plays Nerva, the little girl that the apes find in the beginning of the movie. She gives a decent performance although her character doesn't have any speaking parts. However, the standout of the entire movie is Steve Zahn who plays Bad Ape. He was really funny and added some much needed comedic relief to an otherwise sad and emotional story. His scenes were some of the best moments in the film. "War for the Planet of the Apes" is not just a war movie; it is an intense drama, a prison movie with talented acting performances, and it ties up the trilogy with a great conclusion to the Apes franchise. It is my favorite one of the trilogy. I am giving "War for the Planet of the Apes" a 5 out of 5 stars.
