Argo

Synopsis:

On Nov. 4, 1979, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, Iran, taking 66 American hostages. Amid the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge with the Canadian ambassador. Knowing that it's just a matter of time before the refugees are found and likely executed, the U.S. government calls on extractor Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) to rescue them. Mendez's plan is to pose as a Hollywood producer scouting locations in Iran and train the refugees to act as his "Film" crew.

Movie Review:

"Argo" is the third film directed by Ben Affleck and once again he directed an intense drama about the 1979 Iranian crisis that took 66 American hostages and 6 Americans who escaped and were hiding in Iran. This is the story of how a brave C.I.A. agent named Tony Mendez played by Ben Affleck has to help them to escape and get them to safety. Ben Affleck proves again that he can direct and star in his own film. He is so good in this movie as he effortlessly transforms into his character and pulls the audience into his journey. With a strong supporting cast that includes Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman, they all give powerful and compelling performances and are outstanding in every scene they are in. Ben Affleck, also, captured the end of the 70's and the 80s perfectly including the clothes they wore, and the classic look of the early years of Hollywood. This is a very intense movie even though no one was killed and not even a shot was fired, but I was still engaged from beginning to end. "Argo" is an outstanding movie about a dangerous crisis in American history with great acting from its cast and talented directing from Ben Affleck. This movie is a must see — if for nothing else but a lesson in history. I am giving "Argo" a 4 out of 5 stars.
