X-men

synopsis: They are children of the atom, homo superior; the next link in the chain of evolution. Each was born with a unique genetic mutation, which at puberty manifested itself in extraordinary powers. In a world filled with hate and prejudice, they are feared by those who cannot accept their differences. Led by Xavier, the X-Men protect a world that fears them. They are locked in a battle with former colleague and friend, Magneto who believes humans and mutants should never co-exist.

Movie review: X-Men" is the first movie in its franchise that has been going on since the 2000's and it changed the comic book genre forever. For years, some bad comic book movies surfaced and failed until Bryan Singer surprised everyone with his interpretation of the X-men, which is an entertaining, action packed, and well-acted comic book blockbuster. This film follows a young mutant named Rogue (Anna Paquin) who meets Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and the X-men who protect a world that fears them while they are locked into battle with former colleague and friend Magneto who believes that humans and mutants should never co-exist. What Bryan Singer does well in this movie is tell the story of discrimination of mutants and how humans feel about living in a world with people who have dangerous powers in such a realistic way. Hugh Jackman is amazing as Wolverine in this film. He embodied the character that we fell in love with in the comics; he was fierce, cranky, and at times full of rage. Hugh Jackman has been playing this character for 17 years even though he was backlashed before the move came out because he was much taller than Wolverine in the comics but I can't imagine anyone else playing this character with the same charisma that Jackman pulls off. Patrick Stewart plays Professor Xavier and Ian Mckellen plays Magneto and they are both magnificent in these roles. The action sequences are fun and full of adventurous thrilling moments — my favorite action scene has to be the fight between Wolverine and Sabertooth in the 3rd act of the movie — it was so entertaining and engaging to watch. The only nitpick I can think of regarding this movie is that some of the visual effects seem dated and fake since it wasn't made with a huge budget. And Halle Berry who plays Storm in the film kind of lost the accent in the middle and the end of the movie. But despite these problems, "X-men" to this day changed the comic book movie genre forever and it started the X-men franchise on a high-note. This film has a quality script and quality acting which usually makes an entertaining movie. I am giving "X-Men" a 4 out of 5 stars.
