Movie Review:

"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" is once again directed by Steven Spielberg and is the sequel and a prequel to the first film. This one takes place a year before "Raiders of the Lost Ark". This time Indy has to travel to India in search of a mystical stone and stumbles into a secret cult plotting a terrible plan that could conquer the world. This is an enjoyable sequel from start to finish even though I think that the first one is better. Once again, Harrison Ford is outstanding as the most iconic hero in movie history. He brings the charm and swagger as a man who wants to do what is right. Indy is back and better than ever and this time he has a trusty partner called Short round played by Ke Huy Quan (a breakout role for this young actor). He has a father and son relationship with Indy and it was very heartfelt. What I really liked about this movie is that it is a little darker and has a different tone then the first one which I expected from a talented filmmaker like Steven Spielberg. For a second time, the action and the adventure aspects of the movie are phenomenal. Every action scene is captivating and thrill-seeking from the opening scene that takes place in a nightclub in China to the catacombs chase scene in the middle of the movie to the ending climax scene in which Indy outsmarted the villain Mora Ram. The villain is scary looking and intimidating but not as good as the villain in the previous film. Kate Capshaw plays Willie Indy's love interest. Unfortunately, this character was the most annoying movie character of all time with her constant screaming and yelling and is just a Damsel in distress the whole time. Compared to the love interest in the first film played by Marion Ravenwood, it is kind of a stepdown and disappointment. "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" is a fun entertaining film but in my opinion I liked "Raiders of the Lost Ark" more. I am giving "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" a 4 out of 5 stars.
