Star Trek

Synopsis:

Aboard the USS Enterprise, the most-sophisticated starship ever built, a novice crew embarks on its maiden voyage. Their path takes them on a collision course with Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan commander whose mission of vengeance threatens all mankind. If humanity would survive, a rebellious young officer named James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and a coolly logical Vulcan named Spock (Zachary Quinto) must move beyond their rivalry and find a way to defeat Nero before it is too late.

Movie Review:

"Star Trek" is directed by J.J. Abrams and is a reboot of the iconic science fiction franchise and was an excellent step in the right direction because this is a great, fun, sleek and action packed film from start to finish. This movie is an original story of how James T. Kirk becomes the captain of the USS Enterprise and how he meets all of his crew members. Chris Pine plays James T. Kirk (a role previously played by William Shatner) and Chris Pine made this role his own; he is funny and serious, and he brings the charm of Captain Kirk like how William Shatner did back in the day. Also, Zachary Quinto was perfectly casted as Spock who played him with emotion and made you care for him. Actually, all of the characters in the supporting cast are likeable not just the two main leads. The supporting cast includes John Cho who plays Sulu, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. Mcoy (or Bones) and Anton Yelchin as Chekov; they all give great performances. Bruce Greenwood plays Captain Christopher Pike who is really a father figure to James Kirk. He made him sign up for the Star Fleet in the first place. The scope and visual effects are impressive as they make you believe that you are in this world of the 23rd century. Every action scene in this movie is impressive to look at from the heart breaking opening scene to the sky diving scene the second half and finally to the epic climaxed scene where Captain Kirk and Spock has to rescue captain Pike from Nero the villain of this movie. Nero is played by Eric Bana even though he is really good in this movie he has to be the weakest element in this movie he was little bit to over the top where he was yelling and just whispering the whole time and he wasn't really scary or intimidating at all. The late Lenard Nimoy does make a perfect extended Cameo as the old Spock which pleased the old school fans and new one alike. Star Trek is a perfect blend of a compelling story, characters you care about, Fun and exciting action and a great acting Star Trek is one of these reboots that works. I am going to give Star Trek a 4 out of 5 stars.
