Movie Review:

"Thor Ragnorok" is the 17th film in the MCU and it is action packed and entertaining, and is one of the funniest Marvel films I have seen. It literally had me laughing from beginning to the end of the movie. They blended comedy and dramatic tones perfectly in this movie — when it needed to be funny, it was funny and when it needed to be serious, it was. Unfortunately, some unexpected, dark things happen to some marvel characters that you love and it was heartbreaking to watch for 'Thor' fans. In this movie, Thor is imprisoned and finds himself in a lethal gladiatorial contest against Hulk, his former ally, and he must fight for survival and race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home and the Asgardian civilization. Chris Hemsworth is once again great as Thor. After playing him for 6 films, he has embodied this character with wit and proves that he can be comedic at times and then transform into courageous hero. Loki (Tom Hilddleston), Thor's brother, returns in this film and I love their relationship with each other because Loki has always been deceptive and manipulating and sometimes you can't tell if he will betray Thor or be loyal to his family. The new character that was introduced in this movie is Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson who is one the standouts in this movie. She was stunning and fearless as Valkyrie and she stole almost every scene she was in. I can't wait to see what they do next with her character in future installments. Frequently with Marvel movies, the weakness has always been the villain, but Hela played by the legendary actress Cate Blanchet was a strong addition to the film. As a villain she was intimidating and terrifying as the goddess of death and she was one of the best Marvel villains we have had in a long time. The only problem with Hela was that she only had 20 minutes of screen time. The action in the film was amazing, fast paced and well-choreographed. Taika Waititi did a fantastic job filming all of the action scenes. My favorite action scene in this movie is when Thor fights Hulk in the arena. This scene was exciting and action packed and it's what comic fans like myself have been waiting for since they introduced Hulk in the MCU. The only problem I have with this movie is that there were some jokes that fell flat. "Thor Ragnarok" is pure Marvel entertainment and is one of the best Thor movies I have seen in a long time. I am giving "Thor Ragnarok" a 4 out of 5 stars.
