The Lego Ninjago Movie Review

Synopsis: The battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, also secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat the evil warlord Garmadon, who also happens to be Lloyd's dad. Pitting father against son, the epic showdown tests these fierce but undisciplined modern-day ninjas as they learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash the inner power of Spinjitzu.

Movie Review:

The "Lego Ninjago" movie is the third Lego movie in this franchise after the "Lego" movie and the "Lego Batman" movie which I loved and highly enjoyed from start to finish. The "Lego Ninjago" movie is very funny and appeals to both kids and adults but it suffers from too many jokes that will fly over kids' heads and a predictable storyline that you will see coming. In my opinion, this is the weakest film in the Lego movie franchise. The heart of this film is its humor and its father/son dynamic. The main character of the story is master builder Lloyd — the Green Ninja, voiced by Dave Franco who brings a comedic twist to this complex character. The supporting voice cast was extremely funny that includes Olivia Munn, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, and Michael Pena. The best character in this movie and who is villain Garmandon played by Justin Theroux. All of his scenes are filled with funny scenarios and hilarious dialogue and he steals the entire show with his relationship with Lloyd. It was a heartfelt father and son story that really worked naturally and didn't look forced. The biggest flaw of this movie is that some of the scenes drag on far too long and its plot lacks originality (seems like any other animated film). The '"Lego Ninjago" movie was an enjoyable funny film with entertaining characters, colorful animation and comical jokes that adults and children can appreciate but because of a forgettable plot and predicable storyline, it was very disappointing for me. I am giving the "Lego Ninjago" movie a 3 out of 5 stars.
