Jurassic Park

Synopsis: In Steven Spielberg's massive blockbuster, paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.

Movie Review:

"Jurassic Park" is directed by the one of my favorite directors, Stephen Spielberg and is one of my favorite films of all time. It came out in 1993 and is well known for its groundbreaking visual style of filmmaking. What makes this film an epic is how Stephen Spielberg captured the scope of the island and park and the magical visual effects that still holds up today after 25 years after it was released. This movie has some of the best lead characters like Dr. Alan Grant played by Sam Neil, a paleontologist, who gets invited to see Jurassic Park. Neil does his best to bring some charm to the role but he is not the best written character. And he hates kids but like any cliché role, he ends up liking them as the movie goes on. Laura Dern plays Dr. Ellie Sattler, another paleontologist, who is also Alan Grant's girlfriend and partner. Dern brings some life into her character and makes her likeable. But the one I liked most of all is the iconic and most quotable character, Ian Melcom, a mathematician played by the funny Jeff Goldblum. This character always has something to say because he has the biggest ego in the room and Jeff Goldblum captured that perfectly. The movie casts some of the best supporting actors like Richard Attenborough, Samuel L. Jackson, Bob Peck and B.D. Wong and they are all used wisely. The villain of the movie, Dennis Nerdy, played by the funny Wayne Knight tries to steal the dinosaurs' embryos for money. By doing this, he causes the dinosaurs to get out and wreak havoc on the park that is shut down. The best part about the movie is the visual effects. The dinosaurs look and move as if they are real—they will scare you. They are astonishing and life-like as it is the first time digital imaging was used on screen. In my opinion, the best scene of this film is the T-Rex reveal; it was suspenseful and thrilling to watch—it definitely will leave a lasting memory with you. The only problem I had with this movie is the kid characters, Tim and Lex, played by Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards. They are annoying for most of the movie with their non-stop screams and terrifying facial expressions. But that said, this movie is pure entertainment with fascinating visual effects, terrifying scenes, and memorable characters. "Jurassic Park" is a must see film. I am giving "Jurassic Park" a 5 out of 5 stars.
