Movie Review:

A Star is Born" is the fourth remake; the original in 1937, 1954, and of course the popular 1976 version starring Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand. The 2018, "A Star is Born", stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga and it is directed brilliantly by first time director, Bradley Cooper. This movie is an emotional, heart- warming, and dramatic love story and it is one of my favorite films of the year. In this movie, a musician helps a young singer find fame as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral. The musical performances by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are amazing and the songs were still stuck in my head when I left the theater. The direction of the film is also impressive for a first time director, except for some choppy editing scenes. Lady Gaga gives a solid performance acting as well as singing, and she stands out in every scene. Bradley Copper and Lady Gaga had such chemistry in this film. They had the audience believing that they were a real romantic couple — you could feel their passion and energy throughout this movie especially the musical duets they did. Bradley Cooper was outstanding as Jackson Mane. His portrayal was raw, emotional and courageous; and he hit it out of the park with his musical talent as well — I was impressed. In my opinion, this is probably his best performance since "Silver Linings Playbook" back in 2012. They both deserve Oscar nominations this year. The only issue I have with this film is that some of the scenes with other characters tended to drag on a little too long and make the movie feel longer than it should have been like the scenes with Dave Chappelle. "A Star is Born" is a fantastic movie from start to finish with outstanding performances from Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga who elevate the film with musical greatness. I highly recommend everyone go see this movie. I am giving "A Star is Born" a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
