Synopsis: It's been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. Locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when his bus transfer goes horribly wrong. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the masked madman returns to Haddonfield, Ill. -- but this time, she's ready for him.

Movie Review:

"Halloween" is directed by David Gordon Green and is the true sequel to the 1978 horror classic that takes place 40 years after the events. This movie wipes the slate clean after the other okay sequels and the bad sequels and gave me a film that was scary, and is a fun slasher movie that you can watch this Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis is back as the iconic role in 1978 Laurie Strode who is still haunted by that night and now has a daughter and a granddaughter who she has to protect, and Curtis is definitely the best aspect of the film. Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer play mother and daughter and their relationship was the strongest element of the film and the heart of the story. Both of their performances feel real and you bought Laurie as a strong fighter who has waited 40 years to kill Michael and has prepared for him to return someday. Also, Judy Greer (Karen) has grown up with this horrific trauma guiding her life and it has not been easy but Greer portrays this character with courageous maturity. And the granddaughter Allyson is played by Andi Matichak who is good in this movie, but she doesn’t have lot to do but scream while she’s being chased by Michael Myers. There is a minor sub-plot between Allyson and a high school dance that felt unnecessary and took away from Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie storyline. When Michael Myers does escape and starts his killing rampage, the movie does get better, before that, there was just a lot of horror movie clichés of bad decisions equals being killed. There is one scene during a Michael Myers killing spree when there is this big long tracking shot of him just like the scene from the original film, so if you are a fan of the original film you will enjoy those nostalgic scenes. Some of the humor doesn’t work in this film and it felt awkward and out of place. However, I really liked the last 30 minutes of film best of all with the cat and mouse game between Laurie and Michael; it was terrifying, suspenseful and exciting to watch their final confrontation. This new "Halloween" movie might not be as good as the original 1978 film, but with the excellent performance from Jamie Lee Curtis, heartwarming relationship storylines, and a terrifying Michael Myers, this is an entertaining horror movie all horror fans should see. I am giving "Halloween" a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
