Overlord

Synopsis: On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers drop behind enemy lines to penetrate the walls of a fortified church and destroy a radio transmitter. As the soldiers approach their target, they soon begin to realize that there's more going on in the Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. Making their way to an underground lab, the outnumbered men stumble upon a sinister experiment that forces them into a vicious battle against an army of the undead.

Movie Review:

"Overlord"is a action/horror film that is set during Word War II and it is a fun action packed, intense movie with some great horror moments mixed in I really enjoyed this movie. Overlord is about squad of American soldiers behind enemy lines and must destroy a radio transmitter for the invasion of Normandy beach. As the soldiers approach their target they soon realize that there is more going on in the Nazi- occupied village than a simple military operation. Overload is one of the most surprising movies of the year so far. Right from the get go immediately puts you in right in the action it made you feel like you were in one of the planes getting shot at the entire sequence was incredible to experience. What this movie does well is that it builds its characters up where most movie like this fail but this movie doesn’t because the moments you spend with the character’s it makes you care about them when they are in an impossible situation. The characters I like was the main character named Boyce ( Jovan Adepo) he was an excellent lead he was charismatic, strong, and intelligent as the Army Private who was nervous goin to war at the start of the movie. The other character I liked was Ford ( Wyat Russell) the squadron leader he was a renegade, fighter, and he was a strong supporting character. The Villain in the movie was Wafner ( Pilou Asbaek) who was intimidating, frightning, as the Natzi commander he stole every scene he was in. Julius Avery is a director we should keep an eye on his directing is solid and I cant Wait to see what he does next in his career. The only Nitpicks I have with Overlord is that some of the pacing in the second act felt slow moving and it takes time for the action to show up in the film but when it does the action is explosive and well directed. Some of the supporting characters I did not really care if they lived or die because you didn’t really get to know much about them. In The end Overlord really surprised me it was an intense, action packed movie with entertaining action sequence and the movie felt Like saving Private Ryan and combined with the Walking Dead which is a good thing. I really enjoyed this movie I had a good time with this film and it was one of the most surprising films I have seen this year . I am going to Give Overload a 4/5 stars.
