Movie Review:

"Long Shot" is a new romantic comedy directed by Jonathan Levine who I have been a huge fan of since he directed a movie called “50/50” and I was surprised by how entertaining, amusing, and sweet this movie is. The odd couple relationship between Seth Rogan and Charlize Theron works well and you actually believe their love for each other. Seth Rogan plays Fred Flarsky, a gifted journalist who gets into trouble a lot. However, Rogan plays the same type of character he always plays — a fat, stoner who always falls in love with a woman who is clearly out of his league. And Charlize Theron plays Charlotte Fields, one of the most influential women in the world. Theron, who by the way is stunning on screen, is surprisingly very funny in this role. The supporting cast backs up the main characters and without them the film would not be complete; they add humor to the movie. June Diane Raphael and Ravi Patel who both work for Secretary Charlotte hates Fred for not being right for Fields and it becomes a running gag throughout the movie. In my opinion, one of the biggest standouts is O’Shea Jackson, Jr. who plays Fred’s best friend Lance. He is by far the funniest thing in this movie with his perfect comedic timing; every joke hits so hard that it left me laughing hysterically. It was surprising to see Andy Serkis and Alexander Skarsgard as big cameos and it was fun to see them. Bob Odenkirk plays President Chambers who represents a real life President and it was very funny when they take jabs at him. This movie deals with politics without getting political which I appreciated. "Long Shot" does get a little predictable and you can tell where the plot is going and some of the inside jabs at men do get a little tiring. I am not a fan of romantic comedies but I very much enjoyed this movie. It has great chemistry between the leads, and the supporting cast is very funny. I am giving “Long Shot” a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
