Movie Review:

“Yesterday” is directed by academy awarding winning director Danny Boyle and is a romantic musical comedy about a struggling Musician who can’t catch a break until there is a blackout and wakes up and finds out that know one remembers “The Beatles” and decides to sing the songs and becomes an overnight sensation. This movie is a fun and entertaining watch but I wanted this movie to be great but tis just good feel good movie. The best thing in this movie is the romantic love story between Jack played by Himesh Patel and Ellie played by Lily James there chemistry was cute, funny and it felt real. I was also impressed howe Himesh Patel’s singing it was phenomenal and every time he sings a Beatles song it will be in your head. There is good amount of funny humor relating to when people don’t know who The Beatles are and their reaction’s of how good there songs were and it was very funny. The actor who stole the show was Jack’s friend named Rocky played by Joel Fry who is a stoner and is that character who has the funniest lines and brings the humor to a new level he also felt real and relatable of someone you know in your life. Also Ed Sheehan who played himself in the movie and plays an important role is fantastic and surprisingly very funny and it was great to see him. I loved Lilly James in this movie she can no wrong she’s cute, funny and adorable that yes you fall in love with her. Almost every character felt real except for Kate Mckinnon who plays Deborah Jack’s agent in the movie she felt like a cartoon character making stupid faces and her humor got tiring and felt like she was in a “SNL” stretch it got so bad that every time she was one screen I was just rolling my eyes. The ending was a little disappointing and felt predicable like I have ready seen this ending a million times with these movies before. But with fantastic Beatles Music and both of the lead Performance’s by Himesh Patel and Lily James with there love story that felt real, the humor was funny, and funny supporting characters like Rocky, but with some familiar story elements and Kate Mckinnon made this film good but not great and really wanted it be great. I am going to give “Yesterday” 3.5 out of 5 stars.
