Movie Review:

"The Lion king (2019)" is a live action remake to the beloved 1994 animated movie and this is a beautifully crafted version with amazing performances from its cast — a worthy adaption to the original. After the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the meaning of responsibility and bravery. I can't say enough about the visual effects that John Favreau and his technological team accomplished in this film. The animals looked so real that it made you believe that you are looking at actual animals in Africa. The voice acting in this movie is phenomenal. The characters who stole the show for me were Pumbaa (Seth rogan), Timon ( Billy Eichner), and Zazu (John Oliver). They heightened the comedy in this movie as these characters were amusing to watch and had great chemistry with each other. Chiwetel Ejiofor voices Scar, the main villain and he didn’t disappoint. He made Scar his own and didn't try to imitate Jeremy Irons in the original. He is probably my favorite villain out of all the Disney live action remakes. The only character that I felt was weak was Nala, voiced by Beyonc’e Knowles-Carter. In my opinion, she was miscast. Every line she said in the film was flat and forced. The only parts she nailed were the singing portions. "The Lion King" is a straight forward retelling of the original 1994 film and that’s why I loved it. If you want to bring back childhood memories of watching the original heartwarming story, go see this remake. I am giving "The Lion King" a 4 out of 5 stars.
