Rambo: Last Blood

Synopsis: When a friend's daughter is kidnapped, Rambo crosses the U.S.-Mexico border to bring her home but finds himself up against one of Mexico's most ruthless cartels.

Movie Review:

“Rambo: Last Blood” is the 5th movie in the Rambo franchise and this movie is an explosive ride from start to finish and in my opinion ended the series on a satisfying note. Rambo must confront his past and unearth his combat skills to exact revenge on the Mexican cartel that took everything from him. Sylvester Stallone plays John Rambo for the last time and he was definitely at his best in this movie as he portrays the damaged, gritty, and renegade character. I really loved Rambo's relationship with his niece Gabrielle (Yvette Monreal). It was a sweet father-like relationship that I enjoyed watching on screen and it broke my heart when she tragically dies which motivates his revenge. The last 20 minutes of the movie was one of the best action sequences I have seen in a Rambo movie. It was filled with gory, intense action-packed scenes that entertained you every minute. But this movie isn’t perfect: There are some plot holes — a reporter character is introduced in the beginning of the movie named Carmen Delgado (Paz Vega) and she was only in the movie for a couple scenes and the writers set up a back story for her character and they never brought it up again in the movie which bothered me. The villains in the film were not compelling, just stereotypical, evil guys that wanted to kill people and make money with no character depth. And the first half of the film was slow moving. So, if you are Rambo fan and an action guy then you will love this movie. I am giving “Rambo: Last Blood” a 3 out of 5 stars.
