Ford V Ferrai

Synopsis: American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and fearless British race car driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary vehicle for the Ford Motor Co. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.

Movie Review:

“Ford V Ferrari” was directed by James Mangold and stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale and it recreates how automotive designer Carroll Shelby and British race car driver Ken Miles beat the automobile company Ferrari at the 24 hour Le Mans in the late 60’s. This is by the far the best movie I have seen all year with its strong performances from its two leads, Matt Damon and Christian Bale. Damon gives one of his best performances as automotive designer Carroll Shelby and he has undeniable chemistry with Christian Bale which makes this movie a success. However, Christian Bale steals the show as Ken Miles with his sarcastic humor and funny one liners throughout, and his relationships with his son (Noah Jupe), his wife (Caitriona Balfe) and Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) were heartwarming. The strong supporting cast of John Bernthal, Tracy Letts and Josh Lucas added depth to the storyline, especially the scenes about the board meetings with both companies; they were riveting to watch and so entertaining. For me, the best part of this movie was the race. It is a non-stop thrill ride. James Mangold does a great job making the audience feel like you are there in the car with Ken Miles racing at Le Mans. This is a long movie but I never felt the runtime with its great pacing and I was never bored watching this movie — I was captivated by it. You don't have to be a racing fan to enjoy this film. It is full of relationship stories, outstanding performances, friendships, and thrilling action. I loved this film, and I am predicting some big wins this year at the Oscars. I am giving “Ford V Ferrari” a 5 out of 5 stars.
