Movie Review:

“Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker” is the ninth and final installment of the saga that has been around for 42 years and this movie is an entertaining, emotional ride that all Star Wars fans like myself will enjoy. The three leads in this film Rey(Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Issac) have dynamic chemistry throughout and I enjoyed watching them go on this adventure together. I really liked what they did with the character of Finn; he finally has a purpose in this movie. My favorite character has to be Rey; she was strong and powerful and made you want to see her in every scene. I liked that you get to learn more about Rey’s past which satisfied my curiosity. Kylo Ren, who is my top sequel trilogy character, was an intimidating villain that you can relate. His relationship with Rey was one of the highlights of the movie, especially the lightsaber battle during the second act. This battle was exciting and breathtaking to watch – I was blown away how amazing this fight was; it was probably the best lightsaber fight in this trilogy. The new characters led by Zorri Bliss (Keri Russell) and Jannah (Namoi Akie) blended well with the lead characters and you got to learn about their back stories which was really interesting. Lando (Billy Dee Williams) makes his big return in this movie and continues to be charming and likable as he was in “Return of the Jedi”. The humor in this film was funny and well executed mainly because of Poe and C3PO. I can't say enough about the never ending action. It was exciting, well filmed, and crowd pleasing. “The Rise Of Skywalker” has a few negative issues like the beginning is bogged down with exposition and slow moving. Also, there were some story elements that didn't work. I wasn’t a big fan of how the emperor came back. The execution was really odd to me and it just felt forced. Finally, it was too much fan service which was unnecessary to include it in this film. In my opinion, “Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker” was an entertaining and emotional journey from start to finish (real Star Wars fans might even tear up at times). J.J. Abrams made a satisfying end to the Skywalker saga and ended the trilogy on an high note. I am giving “Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker” a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
