Movie Review:

“Bad Boys For Life” was directed by Billall Fallah, Aldil El Arbi and is the third one in the franchise after a long 17 years. The re-team of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence delivered a fun performance as the iconic 90's characters, and in my opinion it is the best of the franchise. From a person who isn’t a big fan of the previous two films, I was pleasantly surprised of how much I enjoyed this film from start to finish. Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are hilarious and portray hot headed cops, just older, but they still share the same on-screen chemistry as they did in the two previous films. Joe Pantoliano returns as the Captain of the police department and I enjoyed seeing him reprise his role. Will Smith has a new love interest, Rita, played by Palola Nunez. She is a lieutenant for the Miami police department and is the head of a new squad called AMMO. She was a strong female character. I really liked how Nunez interacts with Will Smith's character. The AMMO team of the younger officers, including Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig and Charles Melton were great additions to this franchise, especially their entertaining action scenes. There was, also, a menacing villain, Armando Armas, played by Jacob Melton, who has a personal vendetta agains Mike Lowrey (Will Smith). My favorite aspect of the film was bringing back the story of Mike’s past coming back to haunt him; it was intriguing. I did feel that this movie was too much like the previous two films in terms of the same plot, and there are some silly moments throughout. But overall, I enjoyed this movie – it's funny, action packed, and Will Smith and Martin Lawrence give outstanding performances – I might be excited for a fourth film. I am giving “Bad Boys For Life” a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
