Synopsis: When a pill that gives its users unpredictable superpowers for five minutes hits the streets of New Orleans, a teenage dealer and a local cop must team with an ex-soldier to take down the group responsible for its creation.

Movie Review:

“Project Power” was directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman and it's a crime thriller with a flavor of the superhero genre. This is a fun, entertaining movie with great performances by Jamie Fox, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Dominique Fishback. Where the movie falls flat is the generic plot. The strongest element of the film was the father and daughter relationship between Art (Jamie Fox), a former soldier who teams up with Robin (Dominique Fishback). When Frank (Joseph Gordon Levitt), a New Orleans cop, finds out about this superpower drug, he teams up with them to find who is behind the creation. There are many subplots and side stories that were unnecessary and slightly twisted. There are a few action scenes that do standout that involved fire power and some shootouts that were fun to watch. Another issue I had with this movie was there wasn't a clear villain – a drug dealer or dirty cops – it’s all confusing. They were just one dimensional and weak characters. I was also disappointed of how little the “superhero” element was used; it was a cool concept, but it wasn't executed well. This is just an ordinary crime thriller with great performances by the three main leads. I am giving “Project power” 3 out of 5 stars.
