I'm Thinking About Ending Things

Synopsis: Full of misgivings, a young woman travels with her new boyfriend to his parents' secluded farm. Upon arriving, she comes to question everything she thought she knew about him, and herself.

Movie Review:

"I’m Thinking of Ending Things” was directed by Charlie Kaufman and is a psychological drama and thought-provoking movie with fantastic acting by its two leads. Jessie Buckley and Jesse Plemmons play a couple that are about to break up and the first 17 minutes of the film are them driving in a car to his parents’ house arguing about life and work. Buckley and Plemmons have great chemistry together on screen and are outstanding in this movie. When Abby (Jessie Buckley) meets Toni Collete and David Thewlis who play the boyfriend’s parents, she begins to question her relationship. Their performances were a bit crazy and over the top, but it worked because of the outstanding direction, amazing script, and talented acting. The second half of the film gets extremely weird yet interesting, and I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. Some issues I had with the movie were that there were some elements that felt repetitive; it seemed a little too long for a drama; and the ending didn't work for me -- it was odd and confusing. Charlie Kaufman's new film is a personal one about love, life and loss with two outstanding actors by Jessie Buckley and Jesse Plemmons. I am giving “I’m Thinking About Ending Things” a 4 out of 5 stars.
