Nope

Synopsis: Caretakers at a California horse ranch encounter a mysterious force that affects human and animal behavior.

Movie Review:

“Nope” is directed by Jordan Peele, and it is an original science fiction film with incredible performances by its leads and an interesting intriguing story that is surrounded by mystery. Jordan Peele perfectly combines different genres like science fiction, horror, and comedy in a natural and realistic way. Daniel Kaluuya plays O.J Haywood a horse trainer for big Hollywood movies. He is fantastic as this quiet, private man who doesn’t like to talk. Keke Palmer plays Emerald Haywood the sister and she steals the show as this energetic and funny character. Her relationship with her brother was genuinely loving, and they shared some emotional as well as comedic moments. Brandon Perea plays Angel a cashier who works at a video store. He portrays a funny, slacker who adds more comedy to the movie. Classic actor Michael Wincott plays Antlers Holst a deranged cinematographer who helps O.J and his sister get the perfect shot of the UFO, and I loved every moment he was on screen. The third act was exciting and the twist that happens was satisfying and made sense. And the jump scares were intense and effective throughout the film. My biggest problems with this movie were -- Steven Yeun plays Ricky a former child actor whose storyline about his tragic past felt useless and made the runtime longer. Also, some of the metaphorical themes of the movie are a little too much. However, I really liked this movie. It’s an entertaining film that feels like “Jaws”, “Close Encounters of Third Kind” and “Tremors” all in one. I am giving “Nope” a 4/5 stars.
