Sick

Synopsis:

While quarantining at her family's lake house during the pandemic, Parker and her best friend are threatened by an unexpected visitor.

Movie Review:

Sick” is directed by John Hyams, and it is a horror slasher movie that deals with the Covid Pandemic. What makes this movie work is the clever direction of how the scary scenes were designed to feel realistic and terrifying. Gideon Adlon plays Parker an immature college student who doesn’t care about following the Covid protocols. Her character is someone who needs to fight for her own survivor when a killer is haunting her. Even though she is flawed, she is relatable that makes her likable. Bethlehem Million plays Miri her friend, and she is one of the standouts of the film. Dylan Sprayberry plays DJ Parker’s ex-boyfriend, and he is a caring well written character that had depth. There is a clever twist as to who is the killer or killers that made sense. Some of the issues that I had are the character introductions are predictable especially where the story is taking us. The third act is rushed. And there are too many social commentaries about Covid. “Sick” is still an intense, scary horror slasher that was an entertaining time. I am giving “Sick” a 4/5 stars.
