A Family Affair

Synopsis: A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex and identity.

Movie Review:

"A Family Affair" is a Rom-Com directed by Richard LaGravense and stars Zach Efron, Nicole Kidman, and Joey King. The movie is surprisingly sweet and funny, with three solid performances from its main leads. Joey King shines as Zara Ford, a struggling 24-year-old assistant to Chris Cole, the biggest actor in the world. She delivers the best performance in the movie, showcasing her funny, sweet, and charming side, as well as her amazing mother-daughter relationship with Nicole Kidman, which is the heart of the film.

Nicole Kidman gives a good performance as Brooke, Zara's mother, who enters a relationship with her boss, leading to some funny comedy moments that make the movie more enjoyable. Zach Efron plays Chris Cole, a self-obsessed and egotistical actor who is initially hard to like but eventually shows a softer side.

Kathy Bates adds some class and heartfelt moments to the movie, making it even more enjoyable to watch. However, my main issue with the film is the lack of chemistry between Nicole Kidman and Zach Efron, as well as the predictable plot that follows every rom-com cliché in the book. The ending also feels abrupt.

Overall, "A Family Affair" is a fine and enjoyable movie, and one of the better rom-coms on Netflix.

I am giving “A Family a Affair” a 3/5 stars.
