Movie Review:

“A Quiet Place Part II” is a movie that I have been looking forward to seeing for an entire year due to the pandemic. I finally got my chance and “A Quiet Place II” is as good as the original --thrilling, scary and heart pounding at every turn. Part II is a good sequel that expands the characters, the setting, and it sets up for future movies in the process. Emily Blunt is once again fearless, daring and caring as Evelyn Abbott who would do anything to protect her family from the monsters who hunt with sound. I really liked the new heroic character they introduced Emmett who is played by Cillian Murphy and who is an old friend of the family. The standout character was Regan Abbott the daughter played by Millicent Simmonds; this was really her movie. The audience travels with her on her journey as a young naive kid to a brave courageous adult who tries to save the world from the aliens. I loved the fact that they separated the characters, and each goes on a separate journey in this sequel, whereas in the first movie the families stayed together. In my opinion this movie is perfect from its beginning to end, but I had a few criticisms. DJimon Hounsou plays a man on the island but only has 5 minutes of screen time which was really disappointing because he is such a talented actor. And, the son Marcus Abbott played by Noah Jupe has a weak storyline that endangers the entire family, but he does redeem himself at the end. “A Quiet Place Part II” is an entertaining sequel with heart-pounding scares, talented actors, a great director and an intense story. I am giving “A Quiet Place part II” a 4.5/5 stars.
