Movie Review:

“Avatar: The Way of Water” is once again directed by James Cameron, and it is the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 smash hit of 13 years ago. As someone that enjoyed the first movie, I thought the sequel improved in every aspect like the visual effects, the characters, and the story. The visuals were beautiful in every scene and transported you to the world of Pandora. Sam Worthington returns as Jake Sully who is now a N’vai living in happiness as a father with a family. Zoe Saldana plays Neytiri Jake’s wife, and she displays lots of emotions throughout the film. Sigourney Weaver plays Kiri and she gives a talented performance from beginning to end. My favorite new character is Spider played by Jack Champion a human who was raised by the N’vai. He has a compelling, interesting story and is conflicted by what side he should be on. Stephen Lang returns as the villain Colonel Quaritch, and the way they brought him back from the dead was creative, made sense, and made him deadlier than he was before. Kate Winslet and Cliff Cutis are two new characters who were introduced, and they were great. They do stuff in the third act that was incredible with fast paced action scenes that make it one of the best endings I have seen in a blockbuster. Although I thought the movie was too long, “Avatar: The Way of Water” is an incredible achievement in cinema and one of my favorite films of 2022. I am giving this movie a 4.5/5 stars.
