Synopsis: Former CIA spies Emily and Matt are pulled back into espionage after their secret identities are exposed.
Movie Review:
"Back in Action" is a new original comedy spy movie that has some funny moments with the family dynamic at its core, but ultimately falls short as a forgettable generic spy family road trip film. Cameron Diaz makes a comeback after 10 years, playing Emily, a loving mother who is also a strong CIA agent. She delivers entertaining action scenes and funny moments with her on-screen husband, played by Jamie Foxx. Their chemistry is fantastic, and Foxx brings charm, wit, and hilarious sarcasm to his role. The kids, played by McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson, add some fun elements to the story. Glenn Close steals the show as Emily's mother, bringing classiness, wit, and humor as a former MI6 agent.
Unfortunately, the movie suffers from poor visual effects that resemble an old video game, especially in the action scenes. Kyle Chandler gives a fine performance but his character lacks depth and is forgettable. Andrew Scott's character, Baron, is predictable and uninteresting, despite attempts to add comedic elements. Jamie Demetriou's character, Nigel, falls flat as the comedic relief and comes across as silly and annoying.
Overall, "Back in Action" is another Netflix original spy action comedy with a family road trip twist that has its moments but ultimately fails to impress. I would give it a 2.5/5 stars.
