Beast

Synopsis: A father and his two teenage daughters find themselves hunted by a massive rogue lion intent on proving that the Savanna has but one apex predator.

Movie Review:

“Beast” is directed by Baltasar Kormoakur, and it is the new survivor thriller starring Idris Elba. This is an intense violent action movie with some great acting. Idris Elba plays Nate Samuels a doctor who is being hunted by a blood thirsty lion seeking revenge. Elba’s character is intelligent, likeable and loves his family. He is struggling to be a father of two teenage daughters. Leah Jeffries and Iyana Halley play Norah and Meredith (the daughters) who make some stupid choices that almost get them killed. Sharlto Copley plays Martin Battles a tracker and Nate’s best friend, and their friendship is real throughout the movie. Some of the best things in this movie was the direction – the terrifying, isolated scenes were thrilling to watch. Also, the CGI with the lion was incredible – it appeared so natural. My biggest issue is that near the end of the film it feels more like a cartoon. But it is still an entertaining movie. I am giving “Beast” a 3.5/5 stars.
