Blacklight

Synopsis: Travis Block, a shadowy government agent who specializes in removing operatives whose covers have been exposed, uncovers a deadly conspiracy within his own ranks that reaches the highest echelons of power.

Movie Review:

“Blacklight” is directed by Mark Williams and is yet another action film starring Liam Neeson that disappoints. With little action, a dull story that is predictable and convoluted, and lots of unnecessary plot points, this film is not worth seeing. The only good thing in this movie is Liam Neeson who plays Travis Block a government agent who needs to stop his own agency from a conspiracy. The problem is that Liam Neeson portrays the same type of lethal wielding character that we have seen him play over the last 10 years. The movie tries to put an interesting subplot about Travis Block’s family and his broken relationship with his daughter played by Claire Van der Boom, but it goes nowhere and felt out of place. The storyline about a reporter Mira Jones played by Emmy Raver-Lampman who teams up with Travis was supposed to be riveting; unfortunately, the story is long and tedious ending up missing the mark. Aidan Quinn plays Gabriel Robinson the leader of the FBI who is an uninteresting cliché government agent that we have seen before. The big action scene in the film was a house shootout near the end of the movie that felt like a “Home Alone” spoof with quick editing and shaky camera angles. I am a fan of Liam Neeson, but I felt he is showing his age in this movie. He could barely do his stunts and his attempt at the fist fights were cringeworthy to watch. “Blacklight” is another bad action movie with a bad script and bad casting. I am giving “Blacklight” 2/5 stars.
