Movie Review:

"Captain America: Brave New World," directed by Julius Onah, is the 35th movie in the MCU and the fourth installment in the Captain America franchise. While it may not be the strongest of the Cap movies, it still has some exciting action scenes, ties to the MCU universe that have me looking forward to what's next, and a thrilling third act that delivered everything I was hoping for.

I appreciated the film's attempt to channel a 70s political thriller vibe, with intense assassin attempts that added a grounded and serious tone to the story in the midst of a world filled with superheroes. Anthony Mackie's portrayal of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America was fantastic - he brought bravery, honesty, and a fresh take on the character that I really enjoyed. His flying suit definitely sets him apart from Steve Rogers.

Harrison Ford's performance as Thaddeus Ross, now the president, was a standout in the movie. His emotional storyline and portrayal of flaws and mistakes made him the most compelling character for me. Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph, the head of the Secret Service and a former Black Widow, also impressed with her action scenes and added depth to the newer characters introduced.

The film had some great action moments, especially in the third act, that kept me entertained. However, I wasn't a fan of Danny Ramirez's character as the new Falcon. While Ramirez gave a decent performance, the character's dialogue and comedic moments felt forced and annoying.

The villains, The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) and Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito), gave good performances but were underutilized and lacked depth. The movie also felt a bit convoluted and overstuffed with setup for future storylines.

Despite its flaws, "Captain America: Brave New World" was an okay time at the movies for me. I'd give it a solid 3/5 stars.
