Synopsis: A young airline security guard is blackmailed by a mysterious passenger who threatens to smuggle a dangerous package onto a plane on Christmas Eve.
Movie Review:
“Carry-On" is a new action movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra that takes inspiration from classic 80s films like "Die Hard." It's a thrilling and fun movie that would be perfect to watch on Christmas. Taron Egerton shines as Ethan Kopek, a TSA agent with dreams of becoming a cop. His likable personality and charismatic charm make him a smart and relatable character that you can't help but root for. Sofia Carson also delivers a solid performance as Nora Parisi, Ethan's girlfriend, and the chemistry between her and Taron is believable.
Jason Bateman steals the show as Traveler, the villain who is both evil and charming. His calculating and smart demeanor makes him one of the best villains in an action movie in a long time. Danielle Deadwyler also impresses as LAPD Cop Elena Cole, a determined cop who you can't help but care about.
While the movie has its exciting moments, some of the action scenes feel dull and repetitive, making it seem a bit generic. Additionally, some of the supporting cast members, like Sinqua Walls, Logan Marshall-Green, and Dean Norris, are underutilized. The side villain, the watcher, played by Theo Rossi, comes off as a bit cartoonish and silly.
Overall, "Carry-On" is a fun action film, but it may not be the most memorable or groundbreaking movie out there. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5 stars.
