Deep Water

Synopsis: A well-to-do husband who allows his wife to have affairs to avoid a divorce becomes a prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.

Movie Review:

Deep Water” is directed by Adrian Lyne, and it is based on the 1957 novel of the same name. This movie is supposed to be an erotic psychological thriller that tries to be sexy with a big mystery, but I found it to be repetitive, boring, and dull. Ben Affleck tries to save the movie with the only decent performance as the subtle but creepy well-to-do husband Vic.Ana de Armas plays the unlikable, immature, and selfish much younger wife of Vic who seems to always stay with her husband even when she uncovers the truth about him.The supporting cast adds nothing interesting to the story or plot. Although the film tries to be clever and smart, it wasn’t well executed. The beginning and middle of the movie never seems to take off -- it was a slow-moving mess. Most of the scenes make the audience feel uncomfortable. I think this was one of the most disappointing thrillers I have seen. I am giving “Deep Water” a 2/5 out of stars.
