Don't Worry Darling

Synopsis: In the 1950s, Alice and Jack live in the idealized community of Victory, an experimental company town that houses the men who work on a top-secret project. While the husbands toil away, the wives get to enjoy the beauty, luxury, and debauchery of their seemingly perfect paradise. However, when cracks in her idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something sinister lurking below the surface, Alice can't help but question exactly what she's doing in Victory.

Movie Review:

Don’t Worry Darling” is directed by Olivia Wilde, and it is a new psychological thriller. After seeing Olivia Wilde’s incredible performance in the comedy “Booksmart” a few years ago my expectations about “Don’t Worry Darling” were high; however, I am so disappointed in this film. Florence Pugh plays Alice Chambers a young housewife who lives in an isolated paradise community, but flashes of her past come back to question her own reality. Pugh delivers a powerful performance full of dramatic scenes with lots of emotions and tears. Alice is the only character that has a complete arc in this story. Chris Pines plays Frank the leader of the community called Victory and is the villain who is terrifying in scenes near the end of the movie. Olivia Wilde plays Bunny (Alice’s best friend) whose character acts robotic most of the time. The supporting cast like Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, Timothy Spall, and Douglas Smith felt wasted in their roles. Harry Styles plays Alice’s husband Jack who is uninteresting and unlikable. Styles lacks any on screen chemistry with Florence Pugh and in my opinion is just a bad dramatic actor. The film has a sluggish plot, a messy twist, and a terrible reveal ending. It was hard to enjoy this movie. I am giving “Don’t Worry Darling” a 2/5 stars.
