Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Synopsis:

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on a quest to retrieve a long-lost relic, but their charming adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

Movie Review:

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, and it is based on the popular role-playing game of the same name. This film is a great mix of fantasy, action, adventure, and comedy that works brilliantly because of a strong cast and script. I believe this is the biggest surprise movie of the year. Chis Pine plays Edgin Darvis a thief with a huge heart whose wit can outsmart everyone. Michelle Rodriguez plays Holga Kilgore a strong warrior that has some of the best action scenes in the movie, and she has great chemistry with Pine. Justice Smith plays Simon Aumar a deadbeat sorcerer who is evil but adds humor throughout. Sophia Lillis plays Doric someone that can transform into any animal, and she shows her talent in all her scenes. Rege-Jean Page plays Xenk Yendar a strong warrior that has intense action scenes and does act like Spock from “Star Trek”, but he isn’t in the movie enough. As much I enjoy Hugh Grant playing Forge the villainous con man who betrays heroes, I found him to be one note and not that interesting. What made this movie work was the lighthearted funny tone similar to “Princess Bride” at times. I would love a sequel…this movie is a must see. I am giving “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” a 4.5/5 stars.
